Biography
Mr Brooks and his Co-Founder and Managing Partner, Mike Raso founded Conduit Private Partners to provide “The Right Way To Alternatives” by providing access to institutional grade alternative investments. We are focused on acting as a co-fiduciary across our consulting, technology and investment advisory solution capabilities.
Previously, Mr. Brooks served as Chief Executive Officer of RealBlocks. RealBlocks provides full front, middle, and back-office functionality for the world’s real estate and alternative investment managers. The Firm provided a “technology bridge” to their clients to create technology, tokenization and blockchain solutions for their investment capabilities to expand into new markets and geographies. Mr Brooks also served as Founder and President of RealBlocks Investment Advisors and Founder and Chief Executive Officer of RealBlocks Private Securities, which were wholly owned subsidiaries of RealBlocks. RealBlocks Investment Advisors was focused on delivering single manager, multi-manager and multi-asset Alternative investment solutions in partnership with its clients. Mr. Brooks also served as a member of the Board of Directors of RealBlocks’ parent company, BlockchainK2, a publicly listed corporation in Canada.
Mr. Brooks has 35 years of investment management experience leading distribution, product and investment teams across both retail intermediary and institutional channels. While working at some of the leading asset managers in the US including: Capview Partners, SEI Investments, DWS/RREEF Real Estate, JPMorgan, AMG Funds and OppenheimerFunds, Mr. Brooks has focused on leading teams in the production and distribution of traditional and alternative investment solutions to global investors. Mr Brooks and his teams have created numerous public and private funds to cater to the needs of the global institutional and intermediary markets. He has been responsible for raising over $40 billion in new assets for the firms he has worked for.
Mr. Brooks served as the first co-President of the Defined Contribution Real Estate Council (DCREC) and was one of the group’s founding members as well as founding the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA) Defined Contribution Affinity Group and serving as its first co-chairman. Mr. Brooks is also an active member of the Defined Contribution Institutional Investment Association (DCIIA), where he has co-authored. Mr. Brooks has also been active with the Defined Contribution Alternatives Association (DCALTA), Society of Professional Asset Managers and Record-Keepers (SPARK), and the American Retirement Association (ARA). For many years, he has been active on the speaking circuit with numerous organizations as well as with industry publications including PlanSponsor, Pensions & Investments, Institutional Investor, FInancial Research Associates, Buyouts Insider, PERE, PEI, Institute for Portfolio Alternatives, CFA Institute, NY Alternative Investment Roundtable, Money Management Institute and Chief Investment Officer magazine. In 2011 he received the AI CIO innovation award for RREEF Real Estate for developing the firm’s daily valued real estate fund for defined contribution plans.
Mr. Brooks has previously held his FINRA Series 3 and 65 and currently holds his Series 7, 24, 63 licenses and is a CFA charterholder. Mr. Brooks graduated from Cornell University in 1989 with a BA in Economics. In his spare time, Mr. Brooks serves on the Board of Directors of the Delta Chi Housing Corporation at Cornell and is an avid competitive sailor.
He lives in Darien, CT with his wife Gretchen and has two adult children.
